I want to submit pictures. What does DPI mean?

DPI simply means "dots per inch". The greater the number - the higher the resolution (clarity of the photo) when printed. Most images from cameras are naturally going to have a higher DPI/resolution for printing. It is preferred that the image be of higher resolution/dpi (a larger image that will print clearly on paper - not just look clear on a computer screen).
